This massive pile of scrap MDF represents about 75% of the heap that was generated for the making of the latest show at the Sean Kelly gallery - Los Carpinteros - “Rumba Muerta”. for the reading room. It’s big, and it’s MDF. And it’s BIG.
As for this scrap pile, unless somebody’s got a good idea and wants to come get it, I’m trashing it. It’s not that I don’t want to recycle it, I just have NO clue how one would go about doing it. In reality, I can’t stand MDF, but people still use it and still ask for it, so I still have to cut it. It’s heavy… the dust is gross…it outgasses formaldehyde, and it’s cheap and flat.

And finally, opening night for Los Carpinteros at Sean Kelly Gallery. This beautiful monster was cut out on the CNC router here at the K-lab over the course of about 3 days. This was a BIG job, generating 3 cubic yards of sawdust alone…. but it was worth it…. as is a trip to see this show. No, really, I would probably have gone to see this even if I hadn’t had a hand in it. The Carpinteros are amazing craftsmen, and it’s actually worth the visit if you’re anywhere near the west end of 29th St.

for 13 times I’ve tried to post this . tumblr sucks so much …. its proposal is to be dynamic…. 20 minutes trying to post a foto with a link.
Nothing on the entire internet fails this way . Tumblr should start to pay us for our generosity and patience and all the time spent with things that don’t work .
